MusaNet international workshop on drought phenotyping for banana at NRCB, India

MusaNet, together with the National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) in Tiruchirappalli, India, held an international workshop on drought phenotyping for banana from 7-11 March 2023. The workshop was led by experts from NRCB and the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT and attended by 16 participants working in crop research for crop research institutes and universities. The main focus of the workshop was on banana, but also covered broad themes such as climate change, plant drought tolerance and phentoyping methods that are applicable to other crops, such as rice and wheat. The four days of presentations and discussion were complimented by three field and lab practicals at NRCB. A field trip allowed participants to visit a local banana/coconut farm on the banks of the Cauvery River.
